At Lightning Learners, there is no pressure to learn at somebody else’s pace. Helen will help you build your skills step by step, explain things clearly and give you the time and support you need to become a safe, confident driver.

    Lessons cover the skills needed for the practical test, but they also prepare you for everyday driving: reading other road users, managing unfamiliar situations, spotting hazards and remaining calm when things do not go exactly to plan.

MEET HELEN

Hello, I’m Helen, the driving instructor behind Lightning Learners.

I believe people learn best when they feel comfortable, listened to and able to ask questions. My role is not to rush you or expect you to get everything right immediately. It is to help you understand what you are doing, recognise your progress and work through anything you find difficult.

My background in education has shown me that people process information in different ways. I use clear explanations, questions, demonstrations and practical repetition to find the approach that works for you.

We will celebrate what is going well, talk honestly about anything that needs improvement and make a clear plan for your next step.

My goal is to help you become more than test-ready. I want you to leave your lessons feeling capable of driving safely, confidently and independently.

HOW YOUR LESSONS WORK

1. Agree your goals

We begin by reviewing your previous lesson and discussing what you would like to improve. This gives each lesson a clear purpose while still allowing us to adapt if something else needs attention.

2. Learn through practice

You will practise skills in suitable locations and gradually move into more challenging situations as your confidence grows. Helen will provide as much guidance as you need and reduce that support as you become more independent.

3. Review your progress

At the end of the lesson, we will talk through what went well, what you learned and what to work on next. You will also be encouraged to asses your own progress and ask questions.

Pupils can use MyDriveTime to view lesson information, track their progress and review feedback between lessons.

My lesson rates are shown below. I find that the most productive lessons are 2 hours long. On average, my pupils receive between 30 and 40 hours of tuition to become truly test ready.

  • Your readiness will be reviewed throughout your lessons. You will practise independent driving, complete realistic mock tests and receive clear feedback on anything that still needs work.

  • Yes. Lightning Learners uses MyDriveTime, which allows pupils to view lesson information, progress and feedback in one place.

  • The cancellation and payment arrangements are explained in the Lesson Terms & Conditions. Please give as much notice as possible if you need to rearrange.
